Wrath of the Lich King Addon: Coming Soon for WoW Classic
The second WoW add-on, Wrath of the Lich King, will be released for WoW Classic and will likely get many fans excited.
There was a lot of speculation and hints about this before, now it’s officially confirmed:
The second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, originally released in 2008, is one of the most popular WoW addons and represents the “good old days of WoW” along with The Burning Crusade. Now exactly this second add-on will be added to the classic version of World of Warcraft that has been around since 2019, so you can experience it again as it was then.
There is no concrete release date for WoW Classic: WotLK yet. So far, only 2022 has been determined as the term.
What Is Wrath of the Lich King About?
It’s been some time since 2008, we will recap the addon’s history very briefly again: 27 years. The new Lich King Arthas Menethil awakens after a year’s sleep and continues his vendetta against the people of Azeroth.
To do this, he sends his scourge, a horde of zombies invading Orgrimmar and Stormwind and causing chaos. Of course, the Horde and Alliance leaders won’t let it sit on them. They repel the Scourge and launch a counterattack that will take them to Lickönig’s home, Northrend.
What can you expect in the plugin?
Now that you know what to expect in terms of story, let’s take a quick look at the changes and innovations in the game. For clarity, we put the biggest ones in a bullet list:
- New max level: Level 80
- New Class: Death Knight
- New Profession: Inscription
- New region: Northrend
- New samples and raid
As you will remember, with Death Knight you do not start from level 1 as before, you start your journey from level 55. There are no prerequisites for this. Also, as usual, you don’t have to buy the classic Wrath of the Lich King add-on separately, you just need a 13 euros per month WoW subscription to play.
Like the other two classic pieces of content, the new add-on will likely be released in several stages, so you won’t be able to play all of the Lich King’s Wrath of the Lich King content initially. We don’t know any more details yet, but we’ll keep you posted as new information becomes available.
