Saints Row (Reboot)

The Saints Row reboot scales back the madness a bit, at least compared to Saints Row 4. There are no aliens or superheroes this time – but of course you can still wreak havoc in the open world. In the South American city of Saint Ilesto and the surrounding desert, you’ve got plenty of room to let off steam, whether behind the wheel of a vehicle or with a gun in hand.

Saints Row is sort of GTA’s punk cousin, so not for those of you looking for grounded and realistic scenarios. If you’re looking to create a truly unique character and enjoy high-octane chaos, Saints Row might just be the place for you.

The reboot was supposed to appear in February, but the developers have now changed the plan. After a postponement, Saints Row is now scheduled to be released on August 23, 2022.

Forspoken

Genre: Action-Adventure | Developer: Square Enix | Platforms: PC, PS5 | Release: October 11, 2022

At first glance, Forspoken’s open world looks quite ordinary for a fantasy game, featuring dense forests, a desert, and ruins guarded by powerful monsters. Only a look at the protagonist Frey Holland reveals an important detail: She is wearing modern everyday clothes, i.e. sneakers and a white T-shirt. Holland did not end up in the world voluntarily, but apparently got there by chance or fate.

Forspoken is created by Square Enix and Luminous Productions, the makers of Final Fantasy 15. Accordingly, Forspoken will also offer an action-packed combat system in which magic plays a major role. The action-adventure should also offer a strong story aspect.

Had everything gone according to plan, Forspoken would be released in May 2022. In the meantime, however, it is known that nothing will come of the originally planned date. Instead, Forspoken is now set to be released on October 11, 2022.

Gotham Knights

Genre: Action RPG | Developer: Warner Bros. Games Montreal | Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S | Release: October 25, 2022

Alone or together with a friend, you can stop criminals in Gotham Knights. Through Gotham City you beat, puzzle and sneak your way through a total of five different districts of the comic city. Unlike previous Batman games, Gotham Knights aims to come alive with NPCs that follow a complex daily routine.

If the Arkham series around Batman was previously a festival for single-player players, the co-op aspect comes to the fore in Gotham Knights. If you’d like to beat up baddies with someone else and can do without Batman as a playable character, you shouldn’t ignore Gotham Knights.

Gotham Knights: It will be the biggest map of Gotham City

Gotham Knights should actually have been released in 2021. However, due to the restrictions imposed by the global corona pandemic, the developers need a little more time, which is why it is not scheduled to start until October 25, 2022.

Sons of the Forest

Genre: Survival | Developer: Endnight Games | Platforms: PC | Release: October 2022

According to a survey, Sons of the Forest is currently the most eagerly awaited survival game in the GameStar community. This is probably mainly due to the success of the predecessor The Forest, because not too much is known about the second part. However, we do know that the open world is once again equipped with hostile events and enemies with a learning AI. That means the opponents study our behavior, follow us through the forest and recognize our patterns. One of the new features is the seasons, which will affect our food sources and life in the world.

Sons of the Forest wants to inspire single player and co-op teams. Unlike many other survival games, it also relies on its story, which you uncover little by little as you fight out your struggle for survival. In terms of combat, the focus is on melee combat, because there is extremely little ammunition for firearms and it wants to be well invested.

Actually, Sons of the Forest should have been released in May 2022. However, after a somewhat longer radio silence, the developers announced that the appointment would not work. The survival game is now expected to be released in October 2022.
