Sony is being sued in a so-called class action lawsuit in the US state of Illinois. According to Trejo, the Japanese manufacturer deliberately kept the design flaw hidden, which was reason enough to sue.

The complaint cites numerous reviews and complaints on Amazon and Reddit, among others; here players state that the console turns itself off and sometimes even does not turn on at all. This flaw doesn’t seem to be tied to a specific game or app, leading Trejo to think it’s a bug with the console itself. The fact that Sony probably hid this is a serious claim, and it is doubtful whether there is sufficient evidence for it.

The company states on a Sony support page that consoles that randomly shut themselves off are still under warranty and will therefore be repaired. Previously, Nintendo has also been sued by the now infamous Joy-Con drift. The manufacturer was then forced to offer free repairs for a period of time.
