Overwatch 2 Beta Announced: Here Are the Details
After a long silence, Overwatch 2 is back and invites you to a surprisingly early PvP beta. Overwatch2 Beta release date and details.
After Overwatch 2 was hit with negative headlines in 2021, the shooter is now apparently getting closer to debut: The PC beta will begin in April 2022, as the official Twitter channel has announced. Also, Game Director Aaron Keller is announcing a better communication strategy and regular updates for Overwatch 2.
A closed alpha testing phase is currently underway for pro players, Blizzard employees, and other premium contributors, and fans will also be allowed to play starting April 26. Here are the most important key data:
What’s in the beta?
The beta initially only includes the PvP part, the new story mode is unplayable. The beta includes the following content:
- 5vs5 mod (instead of 6vs6 like in Overwatch 1)
- New hero Sojourn (more about her on MeinMMO)
- 4 new maps
- New game mode Push
- 4 Restored Heroes (Orisa, Doomfist, Bastion, Sombra)
- New ping system
Blizzard also states that they want to get the PvP mode “into the hands of players as early as possible”. That’s why the decision was made to separate the PvE part. The developers of Halo Infinite took a similar approach when they released the free2play multiplayer game before the campaign and co-op.
