Microsoft Edge: The disliked browser is now number 2 worldwide

Microsoft created one of the basic browsers of our time with Internet Explorer. However, later alternatives such as Chrome, Safari or Firefox convinced users more, so Internet Explorer was often used only to download another browser.

However, with the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge, things got a little better for Microsoft, despite Internet Explorer’s somewhat dubious reputation. But meanwhile, Microsoft’s browser has surpassed Apple’s Safari for the first time, becoming the second most popular choice for desktop computers worldwide.

According to this Statcounter data. The statistics company publishes data on browser usage monthly. In March, Edge managed to hold second place for the first time after the browser has always gained some percentage points since April 2021.

browser statistics

As of now, Edge is used by 9.65 percent of desktop users worldwide, but Safari is one behind at 9.57 percent. Meanwhile, Google Chrome takes the top spot with a huge margin of 67.26 percent. At the bottom is Opera with 2.83 percent and old Internet Explorer with at least 0.92 percent.
