Looks like Sony will support PlayStation 4 for a few more years
Sony is aware of the chip shortage in PlayStation 5, so PlayStation 4 will continue to be supported for a while.

With the current shortage of chips and all the associated problems, the PlayStation 5 is still rare. Add to this the so-called peelers, who like to make an extra sandwich out of scarcity, and therefore many players, unfortunately, miss it. So it’s not surprising that Sony still cares enough about the PlayStation 4, but of course everything has an end.
In a recent presentation to investors, Sony demonstrates its vision for the future. Via a bar chart, it’s clear that Sony doesn’t expect to do anything with the PlayStation 4 in 2025. If Sony’s prediction comes true, PlayStation 4 users will be in good shape for now.
Given that the Marvel games that will emerge from the stables of Insomniac will be available entirely and exclusively for the PlayStation 5, it should be clear that the PlayStation 4 isn’t forever. You can view Sony’s full investor presentation here.
