‘Game of Thrones 2’ is coming: HBO is developing a sequel and bringing Jon Snow back
A new series is being prepared for the sequel to Game of Thrones: HBO is reportedly planning some kind of sequel for Season 8, where everything revolves around Kit Harington as Jon Snow.

Wondering what’s beyond the Wall after Game of Thrones Season 8? Number? Well, you’ll (probably) get the answer to that soon. That’s because HBO is probably working on a new TV series that comes directly after the finale and will focus on Kit Harington as Jon Snow. We will provide you with all the information known so far.
Meanwhile, this will be the ninth spin-off of Game of Thrones, which HBO is currently in development.
9. Season or Game of Thrones 2?
Where does the information come from? HBO has not officially confirmed that a new GoT series is coming. The information usually comes from the highly reliable and trusted US portal TheHollywoodReporter. Accordingly, the project is currently in a very early stage of development – as confirmed by Deadline.
About what? The new TV series should come right after the end of Game of Thrones and thus season 8. According to THR, Kit Harington plays Jon Snow, who is transported to the world beyond the Wall with the wildlings after the end of the War for the Iron Throne.
There are no concrete details about the story at this time, and if the spinoff turns out to be an unofficial ninth season, there will be room for more returning. For example Tormund Riesentod (Kristofer Hivju) or Brienne von Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) or the Stark brothers Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya (Maisie Williams) or Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).
It’s also currently unclear who might be responsible behind the scenes as showrunner and director. At least, it is certain that the project will not be a cartoon series, but a real film adaptation.
Is this really coming? When the show should start, when the shooting is planned to start and whether the project will take place is a matter of curiosity at the moment. HBO has worked on a few spin-offs in the past, but only to see them later. One of the most notable examples: the $30 million Prequel Bloodmoon, starring Naomi Watts, and even a pilot episode was filmed.
What’s next? If the Jon Snow series does indeed become a reality, it probably will in a few years anyway. However, new adventures will continue in Westeros on August 22, 2022: On this date, House of the Dragon, the first prequel to be played 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, will begin. You can watch the trailer as follows – you can find all the information about the GoT prequel here.
